Kalank is a new Bollywood movie. It is released in 2019. It is a multiplex movie as there are a lot of actors in the Kalank movie i.e.Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sanjay Dutt, Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapoor.
Kalank is the historical family drama set in the independent days of the Indian Country. Kalank movie is the “fictionalized” movie that is collaborated up with real-life incidents. Abhishek Varman directed Kalank. Kiara Advani makes her cameo appearance in the movie.
The Historical family drama starts in Lahore (Pakistan) in 1946. Satya Choudhary (Sonakshi Sinha) who had told by her doctor that she has cancer and would die soon. She goes back to her native village in the Rajputana area. Roop (Alia Bhatt) requests her friend Satya to marry Dev Choudhary(Aditya Roy Kapoor) who runs his newspaper business. Roop marries to Dev but Dev expresses that he still loves Satya and shares only platonic and cordial relationship.
The Roop losses interest in the relationship. Roop finds interest in music. She starts learning from the mother of Brothel Bahaar Begum (Madhuri Dixit). She also starts working in her husband’s house. Roop starts writing on the condition of Brothel. She had attracted to womanizing blacksmith Zafar (Varun Dhawan).
Zafar wants to take revenge from Bahaar Begum and Balraj Choudhary (Sanjay Dutt) by seducing Roop, as she is married to Balraj’s legitimate son, Dev. Roop wrongly percepts and falls in love with Zafar. Roop also maintains a cordial relation with Dev. Satya dies after urging Dev to apologize from his father for his affair with Satya.

In another effort to humiliate Balraj, Zafar starts to do communal hatred with his friend Abdul (Kunal Khemu) by demanding partition of India to which Dev and Balraj don’t support.
Balraj comes to know that Roop is having an affair with Zafar and Balraj confronts with Zafar and Bahaar Begum. Bahaar warns Roop to stay away from Zafar. Roop becomes heartbroken. Roop has consummated with Dev, but she tells Dev that she will not love him.
As Abdul Khan’s political position gain more importance, the riots between Hindus and Sikhs increases. The condition becomes worse. While Choudhary’s decision to flee to Amritsar with the help of Zafar. Meanwhile, their maid Saroj, a kind-hearted woman gets brutally murdered. Zafar confesses to Roop that he loves despite his early intention.
Abdul murders Zafar while he was going to board the train. After 10 years a journalist does an interview with Roop and Dev (in a loveless marriage), tries to share experience on the partition of India.
